When John and I started building a brand online, we were clueless; everything we did at that stage was offline. We had to put all our brainpower and resources to learn a new way of promoting ourselves and our business. It was messy, and not easy.

The lesson?

With personal branding, as with anything, it’s okay to start out ugly. If you persist and do the work, you’ll get where you want to be. However, creating and maintaining a brand is an ongoing process. For people to get to know and trust you, you need to put yourself out there and show up consistently.

We live in a world that’s over-branded, but don’t let that intimidate you. 

The beautiful part about building a personal brand is you can zoom in on your passions and things you are good at, and focus on how you can help others. There are so many directions to go in but in the end, it’s personal, right? And as a person, you’re always evolving—and the same happens to your brand. 

Your vibe is going to attract your tribe and sharing your story will establish a connection with them. 

It’s easier to look at storytelling if you divide it into four parts:

Part #1. Who are you: tell people about your background, job, passions—what makes you… YOU. 
Part #2. Why were you looking for something new?
Part #3. How did you find it?
Part #4. What’s your transformation story?

As Brendon Burchard says, “There are only two stories in all of mankind: a story of struggle, and one of progress.”

Don’t be afraid to showcase your struggle before building a personal brand, before having a business, before finding a specific product. People buy results, so they wanna see your progress.

Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of how to creatively launch your personal brand!

#1. Show up Consistently

People do business with people they know, like and trust. What’s the best way for your audience to get to know you?

Show up and deliver value consistently.

Start off by creating one piece of content every day. Identify what form of communication comes naturally to you: picture, text, video, audio. If you ask us, video is the fastest route to building your brand. One video a day gets lots of paychecks coming your way.

#2. Embrace Imperfection

You know what they say: we are our own worst critics. Embrace the thought that in the beginning, you’re going to suck. But think about where you’ll be five years from now.  

Personal branding is about vulnerability, about being human. All your flaws are amazing and relatable, and people will love you BECAUSE of them.

#3. Don’t Overthink It

Let’s say you wanna create one piece of valuable content every day, but you get caught up in analysis paralysis. 

The truth is you don’t have to be an original songwriter to create content. Choose the easiest way of conversation, think of something that inspires you, and put your twist to it. 

#4. Listen, Don’t Yell

Not sure what to say to your audience? All you have to do is listen.

Remember the 50:50 ratio—if you dedicate 15 mins creating a Live broadcast, spend at least the same amount of time engaging with people in the comments.

Pretty soon, you’ll start noticing how they’ll be asking for specific information. 

#5. Share Value

Whenever you learn something, and you’re like, “Wow, that was helpful,” turn around and share it. If you listen to an inspiring podcast, read a great book, or watch a powerful video, make sure you take notes and then share the value with your audience.

#6. Be a Community Builder

Having a community of like-minded individuals is the best place to find qualitative leads. 

And Facebook’s got you covered! Their mission statement says they want “to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together”.

#7. Outsource

The reality of having a personal brand is you’re only 1 person. So if you have the capacity, why not hire someone to help you out?

Wanna show up as version 1.0?

Network marketing is a compensation plan with a personal development plan attached to it. The more you work on you, the more valuable you become, the more success you’ll have, the more people you’ll impact, and the more money you’ll earn.

Work on affirmations and mindset, think big, and remember you’re here for a purpose… that should drive you every day.

PRO Tip: Don’t just show up on social media with the sole intention to get leads. The more you support and encourage people and provide value, money will come effortlessly.
