Do you feel stuck in your business? Stuck in your mentality? Or stuck at a rank?
The truth is, you might not be stuck at all – you could be uninspired. You could be too fixated on what’s not working and you’re too up in your head.
So if you’ve got that analysis paralysis, I’m going to help you get unstuck and move forward to create some momentum in your business, in your life, all the things that are most important to you.
Let’s get right to it!
Feeling Stuck in Your Business? 9 Tips to Get You Back Into Action!
#1: Why Did You Start a Home Business?
It’s tough because one person is stuck because they’re not doing the work, while someone else is stuck because even though they’re doing the work, they’re not working on themselves.
The truth is, there are different levels of fear and different types of stinking thinking and I’ve been through them all. In fact, there are days, believe it or not, when I also feel stuck.
But part of the reason why I have so much motivation is that I remember what it’s like to be broke and I don’t ever want to go back to that. That’s why my first question for you is: why did you get started? What motivated you to start a home business?
Remember that feeling – remember where you came from, the struggle and hunger you had!
It’s not just about working harder, it’s also about working smarter. It’s about becoming more efficient and more effective because you’ve got to protect your time and energy.
PRO Tip: Are you excited about your business? Tell your face. Smile. Do some Live videos. When you’re messaging people, record your voice so they can hear your tonality and enthusiasm. Why? Because people follow strength, not weakness. They follow excitement and passion. So find your passion and start showing up differently.
#2: Hold Yourself Accountable
We hold ourselves accountable because then, we develop habits and daily disciplines. For example, you could be waking up earlier or getting better at marketing on social media.
That’s the hard part of network marketing. We have to really take a good look at ourselves and we have to size ourselves up. And of course, give yourself grace – don’t be too hard on yourself. But let’s be honest. Look at the top earners in your company right now. How do they show up differently than you? What is their character like? Are they a person of integrity? Do they love what they do?
Think about their attributes and then think about yourself. Do you have those same attributes?
IMP: Do things even when you don’t feel like doing them. If you want a filet mignon lifestyle, you can’t have hot dog habits!
#3: Keep Track of Your Numbers
Track not only your personal activity, but also your numbers on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. I take a screenshot every night of my volume. Why? Because I want to know how much volume we did in the last 24 hours.
And if you’re thinking to yourself, “My team isn’t that big yet” let me ask you this – how do you think I got here? Do you think I started tracking my numbers and my follow-ups after we started killing it?
The answer is obvious, but just in case it’s not – no. I started with that mentality when I was part-time.
If you can’t build your business part-time, you ain’t never going to be full-time. Why? Because in network marketing, it’s a team effort.
You might not be creating a full-time income yet but that’s the keyword – yet! You’re building the foundation. Think of it like building a home – you’ve got to lay the foundation first and brick by brick, eventually you’ll have a house. It’s the same thing – every customer, every new distributor, every single person you bring into your business is going to help you create your home.
Work ethic and determination can help you make a decent income. But if you want to make a significant income, you got to leverage yourself. You have to create systems so that your business can grow with or without your time and effort.
#4: Stay In Motion & Create Good Habits
A body in motion tends to stay in motion.
Test this out. When you don’t feel like exercising, push yourself to work out for 5 minutes. Watch what happens. You start working out for 5 minutes, breaking a sweat, and then you decided to go for 15 minutes. Before you know it, you’ve been at the gym for an hour and a half and you feel good.
It’s the same thing with ATMing, sending out prospecting messages, and doing your power hours.
Just say, “I’m going to follow up with 5 or 10 customers/5 or 10 people that I ATMed. Real quick, I’m just going to sit down and get it done.” That’s when the law of inertia kicks in.
So, if you’re stuck, you’ve got to start getting back into motion. Repeat the same thing over and over again until it becomes a habit and you feel off, if you don’t do it.
PRO Tip: Start creating small wins. Because sometimes it’s good just to have something you can cross off your to-do list.
#5: Avoid Distractions & Negativity
Avoid distractions and negativity, especially during your power hours and/or when you’re putting forth effort in your business.
You need to have that undivided attention where nobody can mess with you. No distractions.
You may have kids, pets, etc. But just say to your spouse, “Listen, honey, I need 60/90 minutes. Go entertain the kids. This is my time to move my business forward.”
#6: Join or Create a Challenge
Join a video challenge or do a challenge with your team. Another thing you can do is to hire a coach or invest in a course.
The important thing is to invest in yourself and make a commitment. Do something uncomfortable for 7 days/14 days. Stretch yourself, stretch your customers, stretch your network.
Find something that you’re going to commit to and that will get you the commitment of your people. Spend $500 on a course or hire a coach. Because once you invest in something, I guarantee you’re going to have more motivation. Growth is on the other side of discomfort.
#7: Get Back to the Basics
Sometimes, that’s all you’ve got to do – get back to the basics and do what you did in the beginning.
And maybe you never did any of the things you were supposed to do – like ATMing your face off, creating group chats, or doing Live videos unboxing your new products. So it’s time to do them now.
And I get it – it’s uncomfortable. But you’ve got to master the mundane.
Network marketing is a very simple business. Don’t overcomplicate it.
This is what I do. When someone says they’re interested, I add them to the same groups I’ve been adding them to the entire time I’ve been doing the ATM system. Then I tag them in the same videos I have tagged so many others in and I set up a group chat.
So master the mundane and focus on the basics. And then all you have to do is teach the same process to your people and duplicate it. It’s that simple! Because if it’s complicated, confused people do nothing.
#8: Help Other People
The best thing you can do to help yourself is to help others.
Whenever I feel stuck or I don’t have energy, it’s typically because I’m focused on myself.
One of the reasons why I’ve been so successful, in my humble opinion, is because I have a giver’s mentality. I’m a problem solver. The one thing that I’ve gotten really good at over the years is finding ways to help people solve their own problems. I want to do whatever I can do to help my team.
The sooner you realize that it’s not about you, the faster you’ll get unstuck. Give others the spotlight. Recognize what you want to see repeated. For example, if someone’s doing the work, highlight that person. That does two things:
- It motivates them to keep doing it.
- Think about all the other people who want that same recognition. Now they know what they need to do to get it.
It all starts with you helping people. Whether they’re on your team or not, whether it’s someone you know or not. You have a miracle in your mouth. And people need to hear your story and your perspective.
#9: Develop a Vision
You need to develop a vision for yourself, for your business, and for your future.
- What do you want life to look like?
- Do you have a dream board? If you don’t, create one.
- Who do you want to become?
Because you’ve got to have passion, but you can’t have a passion for something if you don’t have a vision for it.
One of the reasons I’m so disciplined is because I have so much gratitude for my business and for the people I work with. It took me 16 years to get to 6 figures a month. We’d been through the wringer. But what kept me going? It’s my passion for seeing other people win. And once I found out what I was good at and what I loved, it just became a thing that I became obsessed with.
There’s someone in your company who’s winning. Reach out to them. Ask them for tips. And then, let them know you’re going to do the work and actually freaking do it. The easiest people to coach are the ones that actually do the work that we recommend.
